Liz-
Okay, first take a deep breath and relax. What you had happen is very common. Some types of foods with pile up at the wrap in the first sew to several months. Chicken, turkey, rice, potatoes, soft breads, etc. When this happens try your best to relax you esophagus and stomach muscles. This can help ease it through. Sit up very straight or stand up and put your chin to your chest and swallow. This will give a bit better swallow and may push it through. Yes this may be painful. I have had this many many times and have done no damage to ay of my wraps.
For me I can use small drinks of water to help it go through. If you feel like a burp is stuck in your throat try to let it out slowly. I think this is bubbles from swallowing air. If this doesn't work you can try to bring it back up. This isn't vomiting, but more like a cat with a hair ball.
Back off your diet again for a day or so to let things settle down and when you are ready to try again take even smaller bites and feel the food go down your esophagus. It won't take very long and you will be able to feel if the food goes through the wrap or not. If you don't feel it go through keep trying to swallow easily to get it by. I use water to help this, but some people feel it works better to just keep swallowing without water.
It also can help if you drink something warm before you eat to help relax the wrap area a bit. During this recovery the muscles are going to be out of wack a while until they fully heal.
Oh, almost forgot, toast does go down easily in recovery. Take your time when adding new foods. I like to wait about
30 seconds between bites to make sure it went through.
Take care,
Bill
