fireworks,I know it seems like forever that you have been dealing with GERD but as you read through the forum I am sure you have come accross members that have had GERD for many years along with surgery and other problems due to their dx. I am hoping this will not be you and no matter what the disorder or disease it is very common for a person with a chronic illness to feel anxious and depressed re their own disorder.
Try to be positive. It is imperative not to allow yourself
to be swallowed up by longing for the "good ole' days." A positive attitude is
vital to successfully living with a chronic health problem. One thing
that will help you to maintain a positive attitude is to keep a balanced view of
the medical world. Remember that no 2 people are alike and your GERD will be different and unique to you.
When you feel youself overcome by feels of anxiety or depression do something to take your mind off of GERD - get outside and take a walk, read a good book, talk with a friend, and stay connected with your family and friends.
Be your own best advocate and believe that you have many good days, weeks, months and years coming your way.
Blessings,
Kitt
