The nurse did it? My doctor did mine personally.
Are they going to do the BRAVO capsule instead? You can have it done under sedation.

I'm not sure I'd believe results from a mouth manometry.
There's a better way to get the tube down the nose. They can insert a pediatric colonoscopy scope and run the tube through that. Then they remove the ped scope and the tube stays in proper place. Sometimes it's necessary to put a wire down the scope and slide the mano tube over it.
I had a tech try 3 times to get my manometry tube in. Then the doc tried a few times before he ordered the ped scope. The manometry tube is very thin and flexible and kept turning into my trachea, making me cough violently. My nasal
openings are so narrow they had to use medication to reduce the swelling of the blood vessels and tissues.
I've had this same problem when I've needed a GI tube for drainage - the thing you'll wake up with in your nose if you get a Nissen. I've had to have it a couple of times while awake and gagged horribly until they learned to insert and then twist so it pointed downwards. Even then I had to beg for a pediatric size tube because the regular size hurts horribly all the time it is in my tiny nose.
For my Bravo I couldn't tolerate the thing being nurse-inserted while sitting up. I kept vomiting. It went in much more easily when a resident came in, after I insisted on somebody different, and suggested I be allowed to lie down on my side. They say it doesn't hurt when they jam the pin through your esophagus, but it does. A lot.
You have to go through the hoops or they can refuse surgery. So it's practical to cooperate as best you can.

The first manometry I had, the nurse numbed my nose and throat. It was easy to get down. The second time I couldn't do the test. The nurse only numbed my nose and every time she put the catheter down my throat, it felt like it was coiling and I couldn't breathe from gagging. Can you ask for the bravo instead of the 24 hour? The sedate you to put the capsule in, sooo much easier!
