Hi Dave,Yes, it's normal. Your wrap is still healing, and your upper GI tract is adjusting to the changes. I think the adjustment is the thing that takes the longest. Plus the whole change can put unnatural pressure on the area at times. I'm 3 and a half years post-op and I can get a sharp pain or discomfort there from time to time, depending on what I've been doing and how I've been eating.
I also think there can be some uncomfortable adhesions (my theory, not my surgeon's/GI doc's). I find that if I sleep in my left side for a long time I can be awakened by a pain that goes away as soon as I move to my back. It's just something we "wrappers" have to live with from time to time. As far as I'm concerned, it's well worth the trouble!
The thing about eating a lot is that it puts pressure on the wrap and lower esophagus as the stomach fills. It would be wise to listen to your body and follow its lead. If it's telling you to eat less at each meal, just eat more often.
Have a great day!
Denise
