Bad Gallbladder/stone and itching

So.. I have been having a lot of upper back burning lately and I have contributed it to my GERD but lately I have been so itchy too. I am assuming it is either dry skin from being in Peri-menopause and having hormonal fluctuations but I just read that it can be related to a bad gallbladder or gallstones!! It just seems too coincidental that the frequency of my pain and itching all came at around the same time. Has anyone else had this symptom and what is there to do? I don't think I am so bad I need to have my GB removed but i do need advice. I did have an ultrasound 2 years ago and my GB was fine, or so i thought since I never went back for the HIDA scan. I just assumed the US would have shown something. Any advice is appreciated.

When my GB quit working the ultra sound din't show anything either, but the hida scan showed it wasn't working. You might want to check into the hida scan just to be sure.
I didn't have stones or the sludge in mine. It just stopped working.

Thanks for the info Bill. I hate tests so I am procrastinating as long as i can i guess. It is sure to catch up to me and I think it is. I take it you had your GB removed? If so, did it make a significant difference?

Yep had mine removed. It was causing me a lot of pain if I even thought about eating something greasy. French fries really set it off. The pain was gone when I woke up. Felt like a screw driver was stuck in my back before.

Did have issues with bile induced diarrhea though, but there are a few meds that can help with that. I haven't had to use them for about 4 or 5 ears now though.
