Hello Yolee,
I had my gastroscopy yestrerday (not something I'd like to have everyday of the week!!). I have gastritis and ulcers in the stomach and duodenum. I had a coeliacs biopsy - which i get the results from in 3-4weeks - and a h pylori biopsy. The biopsy said i was negative for h pylori , yet my stool sample was a strong positive in all 3 separate tests they did for it apparently. My doctor said for some reason helicobacter biopsies during an endoscopy regular come up as a negative when a patient is positive so they are going on the stool sample.
I've been prescribed triple treatment again and De-Noltab to use after that for 2 months. I'm not convinced another course of antibiotics will work, Or the De-Noltab but I'm giving it one last try.
Lately, I have been looking at alternative medicines, or functional medicines as they're called, such as Mastic Gum, Manuka Honey, Matula Herbal Formula which i wil use if the next course fails, Theyre pretty expensive , but nothing is too expensive where health is concerned, (as long as it works!)
A guy called David Hompes has written a really good book on H Pylori called The H Pylori Diet. It sure is an eye
opener. Ive only read about
a quarter of it up to now but it is worth purchasing. You can get it from www.h-pylori-symptoms.com. Not going too far into it, but His ideology says the virus is more complex than the average doctor thinks it is, varied symptoms make it hard to diagnose, various strains of helicobacter that all need treating if infected by multiple strains, it doesn't just sit in the stomach but in most parts of the body, it causes collateral damage in other parts of the body particularly the heart, most people with helicobacter symptoms have problems with parasites as well. Also a gluten free and diary free diet will substantially improve symptoms. He believes in functional medicines to cure the illness (he had it himself and cured it this way) and boosting the immune system to make it "bullet proof" to digestive infections and hosts.
Hope this helps,
Smit Dogg.
