Went to the doctor again...

You poor person. You have suffered all too much. You do not deserve what you have been going through. I feel so bad and sorry for you. You need to find a good surgeon in your area who does TIF nissen laproscopic surgeries. I am glad you are set up with surgeon on the 19th. I hope this surgeon knows how to do the TIF too. My prayers are with you.

This doctor told me that if I don't respond well to PPIs that I am not a good candidate for surgery yet :( I don't understand that? I do give the PPIs credit since my esophagus isn't eroded anymore - so they have done SOMETHING, just not 100% of what I thought they'd do.... I'd say they are 40% effective.

I'm trying to get the pH test and manometry tests done before I go to see this LINX surgeon on the 19th.

I was supposed to get blood work on friday but I was feeling so badly from the Delixant that I didn't trust myself to drive :( I will stop by today after work (i hate needles!!). I know my current GI dr has them testing me for Thyroid issues and Celiac Disease. I don't think I have Celiac, thyroid is a possibility, but back in January that came back normal.. but it wasn't an in depth check.

I'm just getting frustrated but trying to come up with plan b, plan c, etc. I WILL figure out what to do to fix this, or at least make my quality of life "normal" again!!

I had my blood work done last night and the doctor's assistant called today to say everything looked normal and good on those. I'm going to try to go today and pick up a copy myself. I'd like to compare them to my January blood tests and also have my brother (he's a dr) look over them and help me figure it out.

The assistant said my doctor recommended to never take the Dexliant again. Go back to PrevAcid and wait 2 weeks to tell him if I have issues. I told her I would prefer if he took the next step since I've been on PrevAcid since July, why waste 2 more weeks just to call back and say the same thing?! I swear this dr loves to just waste time. I told her to ask him about the pH test. She said he is back in the office tomorrow and will let me know.

I just want to get the ball ROLLING! I'd love to have the pH and manometry tests done before I consult with the LINX surgeon on the 19th. I know for the LINX you need those 2 tests and an endoscopy (which I have done already). I want my ducks in a row before driving 3 hours to see him! I want answers!

Yes, you will be doing the PH study test. As far as questions, I would want to know how many procedures he/she has done and the success rate. Ask about side effects of the procedure and aftercare instructions.

I had the Bravo PH done. it was a piece of cake.. they put me to sleep and it was basically just like an endoscopy except the the capsule they insert kind feels like a tiny lump in your throat.. no big deal not irritating at all. Just could tell it was there.. after a while it just went away.. no sweat!! Wore a monitor for 2 days and then took it to the doctor and they gave my surgeon the results..

Everything they said is right on what my doc and his girls told me. They said to eat normally.. I had to push a button when I felt reflux.. which was often.. but you cannot get trigger happy.. they will read the printout and will determine the diagnosis. I do not know what all my monitor revealed but my surgeon was convinced at that point that I needed surgery and it would help me. I do know that I had reflux day and nite and it had no preference to what kind of food I ate or didn't eat. I had to go off my Nexium before I went on the monitor and I developed an ulcer in like 12 days.. it is gone now but I guess the reflux action caused it.
Eat what you would normally eat on any given day. Don't try to cause the heartburn but don't try to prevent it either. Just flow with the normal.

I had the surgery done will be 2 years ago come April 1. I have had other issues since then but I have not had reflux or asthma or stomach problems.. I had to adjust my way of eating and how much I ate but I would do it over again if I had to.. It gave me my life back.. the only thing I still cannot eat very much of is bread... go figure.. anything else is OK but not bread.. oh well.. I can handle that!!!

I am 63 years old and I went back to work (office job) 18 days after the surgery. maybe should have waited a few more but I made it and I am so glad I had the surgery done..

Do what the doctors tell you to do, if they feel you can control it with meds an get rid of it.. try it and see.. can't hurt.. I had suffered for 11-12 years.. I said NO MORE!!

Yes, I had the Nissen Fundoplication. I had a very good general surgeon that had done tons of these procedures in his 30 years as a surgeon. He was very kind and very knowledgeable. That is what you have to look for in a surgeon. Experience....

The other problems I have had since the surgery are heart related.. had nothing to do with the procedure. I am very pleased with the outcome of mine.. as I said I would do it again if needed..
You need to have all the diagnostic testing done (if you haven't already) and see what your doctor has to say.. I agree, if you are wanting to have a family.. a decision needs to be made by you and your doctor about what course to take.
