I've been through the bravo study, motility study, etc. and i am considered someone with a severe case of GERD. I am considering the Nissen procedure for relief of GERD but also so that i can get off of Protnoix due to all the side effects of long term use. Complicating all of this is a recent diagnosis of Inclusion Body Myositis. I really do not want to make a decision that is going to end up causing more harm that good. I've been reading a lot of the encouraging posts and it looks like it's a long recovery process which i can tolerate. Is there anyone out there with a simliar diagnosis who can provide me with some advice? I am 60 years old, single, no kids, and really need to work at least 5 more years. If surgery is going to cut that short then I need to factor that in to my decision.
