Hi sammy,Sorry you're struggling. Your GI doc is doing the right thing. Even though you have a hiatus hernia, it doesn't mean that surgery is absolutely necessary. If he/she can get your reflux into control with medication, that's the best option. Surgery is the last thing you do, when all other things fail. It's a big step.
Give the meds a chance. It's not a bit unusual for a GI doc to drag his/her feet on the surgery. I had very sick lungs for probably 6 years, and my GI doc held back on the surgery option. It's very common.
Chin up. You can't rush the process, so work on acceptance at this point. Persevere, don't give up. If the medications don't do the trick, surgery is the next best option. Keep researching, and be prepared to discuss that option with your doctor if and when his/her options aren't working for you. Good luck!
