I will be having my paraesophageal hernia repair surgery in another state, about a 6 hour drive from where I live. The surgeon told me I should stay close by the hospital for about a week after surgery, which I will do. But my question is what happens if I end up having issues once I get back home?
For anyone that has used a surgeon far from where they live, what have done if you have a problem once back home? Of course, I have a local GI doctor, but for surgical issues that can't be handled with a phone call to the surgeon, what does one do?
Thanks,
Deb
