I have no idea why because I am off PPI's and down to one zantac a day (which never did anything) and I feel so much better! I'm still coughing but it is less frequent and I feel totally normal between bouts. I have had episodes of this in the past that spontaneously resolved after several months. But I thought this one was far worse and was precipitated by a horrible gastritis and four straight days of extreme nausea. Also this time I felt it happen, an explosion in my abdomen while drinking a beer and gobbling down pasta. Didn't hurt just felt something explode up and crash with what I swallowed. This time just felt worse.
All I've been doing is DGL and Manuka before meals, Eazymedica Digest Gold with Priobiotics (very expensive but seems worth it. And papaya enzymes after if I feel too full. I chew gum I do all the little things but maybe just giving up my triggers was enough. OH and I take Elavil at night. In fact I had a cavity filled today, lay flat with my mouth
open for half hour! If you had told me even five days ago that I could have a cavity filled I'd laugh or cry because no way....but I did!
Hoping this sticks and if it does I'm never going to abuse my triggers again. I feel like I was given a second chance and I do think this is resolving because it feels the way it has felt in the past when it resolved. I just wanted to post something positive for once :)

Just paying attention to your diet , eliminating the triggers and sticking to a healthy diet can do wonders for reflux. I'm not a big believer in the homeopathy supplements but heh whatever works.
Elavil may just make you feel emotionally better which stops some of the acid being produced. There is a definite link between mind and stomach.
Good to hear, watch those trigger foods !

Thanks Johnah. I already screwed up by eating too much tonight. I think for me that's the biggest trigger. When my stomach is empty or i graze all day I'm at my best. So yes I have to avoid those triggers and be consistent about
not over eating any foods. The elavil might be effecting my mood but i'm at a low dose for pyschogenic cough....this feels more like the feeling of wellness one might feel after not touching alchohol, full fat dairy, caffeine for over a month. I was hoping I might feel the results of that beyond just relieving the LPR. Who knows.....oh and also I've been drinking Alkaline water and a lot of it. And for the last five days VERY alkaline, between 9.5 and 11.5. A neighbor has a high quality machine and she shares the water with me. Could be that or all of the above :)

Thanks Sun, I am getting a sore throat and praying it's not LPR related. Finding it very difficult not to touch any trigger foods when I'm feeling well....easy when I am suffering, easy to forget how miserable I was. Going to have to get a handle on this because I had a cup of tea today and a few bites of chocolate. Ugh....why am i so weak!

I know what you mean. For me, it's those moments when I'm not at home, then I don't think about
I'm grabbing. I've been trying to do a two-week trial without wheat. I'll make it a few days, then impulsively grab a
cookie.

ha, well i made a deal with God that if I got better I would never abuse my body again with food so I'd better get a grip real quick. I've actually made that "deal" before but this time I really meant it. :)

Very happy
to see you are getting great results with a program of products similar to what I used after dropping Tecta.I am always glad to learn of other successful methods and products contributors have found to cope with Gerd.

Thanks guys. Still can't believe I'm in remission. I definitely think when this happens every year or two it is precipitated by an upper respiratory infection and resolves on it's own, kind of just peters out. But never this fast!
I also think that sleeping with head elevated helped a LOT more than I thought. I use a wedge pillow and don't seem to slide down. I do give it a few more inches with a memory foam pillow that doesn't slip and i kind of hook my head over it. It's actually more comfortable! I tried laying flat the other day and felt some stinging in my chest.
