2nd day after Nissan

You've just had major surgery, and all those strange and painful symptoms are to be expected.  Be sure to take your pain meds.  While your outsides have just five little slits, your stomach has been stretched and wrapped and stitched.  There is pain and swelling, which is to be expected.  You're just two days post op!

The next two weeks will be the most challenging.  Your wrap will become increasingly more swollen over then next two weeks or so.  Swallowing will get worse before it gets better.  It's normal.

There is no way that you can expect to feel any better than you do at this point.  Your insides have been accosted with sugical tools.  Try to surrender to your recovery.  Relax, be patient, and listen to your body.  You can't rush this...healing takes time.

The shoulder pain is terrible.  I remember it well.  If you can get up and walk often during the day it will help.  Just take laps around your house as often as you feel you can.  I found that the more I walked, the less my shoulder hurt.

Try some yogurt of Kefir. It can coat your stomach and make it feel better, if it feels irritated.  Believe me, I remember well how much effort it takes to swallow at your point in recovery.  I remember one day when if felt like I was swallowing a huge air bubble whenever I ate or drank.  This, too, will pass.  Hang in there.

Put them in just a little water and wait until the fizz wears off.  See if that works better.  Just a thought...
