Hi IlliniFan,I couldn't remember, and your thread title was really hard to figure out. I could have gone searching your old posts for the info, but it was too late and I was too tired!
Everything during recovery that is difficult will pass in time. You very likely have an irritated stomach/gastritis that is keeping you from wanting to eat. At 8 weeks you're still at a very early stage. Everyone reacts a little differently to this surgery, although some things are universal.
Keep in mind that your upper GI tract has had a major revision. Your stomach has been stretched, wrapped, and stitched to create the wrap. It is not happy with the world right now, and is rebelling.
Just go with the flow, understand that this isn't forever, and try to be patient. If you can accept your recovery as it is, and allow your healing to progress in its own unique way, it'll be lots easier to handle.
Your lack of hunger will not always be with you. It takes a full 6 months for the majority of the healing to occur, and a year for the rest (which is mainly your GI tract adjusting to the changes that have been made).
Believe me, that weight will come back on, once you've healed (unless you work very hard to keep it off). Your stomach is taking a break as it heals. It knows what is best. I suspect it is protecting itself. If you can listen to your body and follow its lead you'll do just fine.
Eat, but don't overdo it--small meals, chew thoroughly, and take it easy on spice and acid. Give it a break during this time. Of course you have to eat to keep up your strength and provide important nutrients. Just do so gently and carefully until the healing has progressed.
Hang in there. This too, will pass. You will be back to your old self again.
Best wishes,
Denise
