There is a video somewhere of how Linx works, in cadavers, on this forum. That should clear up your doubts.

I don't know how it works in the long run, thats why I depend on those who've gone before me :)

Hi NDL,

After reading the Linx literature and studies, watching online videos, etc. It actually amazes me that the Linx is actually able to move as it does without some sort of shielding to protect from scar tissue.

I am going to try and ask Torax Medical about my question and will reply, should I get a definitive answer.

Obviously, it's a healing process that i'm not familiar with - at least just yet, LOL.

A few observations:

(1) Drinking cold water is hard. I can feel some water backing up.
(2) Drinking coke/pepsi is out of bounds. I don't know if it is the coldness or the carbonation. When I tried, I had to really go slow and it was definitely uncomfortable.
(3) I am starting my meals with warm water - otherwise, I seem to be risking food sticking.
(4) Rice is very hard to push through
(5) Easiest to eat has been Roti (Indian bread) with non-spicy veggie curries topped off with yogurt and/or buttermilk. I eat a lot of fruits: watermelon, cantaloupe, grapes, apple mainly, none with any major discomfort. Not much protein consumption though. Recently discovered that beetroot helps bowels along !

I am feeling throat globus a little bit these days. I don't know if it is "referred" sensation from a tight LES or if there is reflux related damage due to Nexium being tapered.

I did ellipticals today for 30 mins and felt some discomfort at the LES area, which seemed like reflux pushing up.

Could the Globus be caused by anxiety? What the did Manometry show for your UES?

I still can't quite understand the reason for the dysphagia. Is this normal for 12 days?

Mine started around 10 days. I think different people's bodies produce inflammatory reactions at a different rate. Mine seems to be accelerated and hopefully the resolution will be sooner as well !

NDL Thanks for the assurance and leading the way :) I wouldn't like to have the cold water restriction for a long time to come. It was horrible to not be able to drink water after ellipticals and there was only some cold water available.

Gastricman I don't think I have "I can't diagnose you. You must have anxiety" type of anxiety :) The globus is generally a function of LPR. No, I did not have any manometry for UES.

My advice to you - do not pay the balance on your medical bills yet. Make monthly payments at this time and hold off on paying it off. Wait and see if they back track on your claim. If they do, then you want to be set up on making payments. I am making 100.00 a month payments until this is totally cleared up, then I will pay what I really owe once I know for sure.

Yes, you would owe the hospital. If the insurance is reversed, they ask the hospital for the money back and reverse it off your account on UHC website . UHC would post a new EOB showing it was reversed.

My advice, don't pay it off until you know for sure its been paid.

Thanks :) I used to worry a lot until JPT hit back with a "what is perfect?" question. Right now, I am happy I took a positive decision to get the Linx. It is not 100% but I need to give it time before reassessing. If it doesn't work, I don't know what I will do - but that's a question for later if it indeed comes to it.

Since I've had significant lung damage, it is possible that I won't ever get back normal breathing. So, I have a long way to go and it helps because I am not looking at the tripmeter every few minutes :)

The last few days have been very very hard swallowing wise. I have had to start meals with warm water and then chew very well. I am down to 20 mg Nexium once in the morning and while I don't feel significant volume of reflux, I do feel some soreness and "hurting" at the back of the throat. This usually indicates acid-induced damage. I am not running scared right away and am going to give it a month or so, be completely free of medication before assessing.

The hiccups usually occur before antiperistalsis. When the stuck situation arises, hiccups occur, peristalsis gets confused and food can oscillate between throat and the Linx. Eventually it goes down. It can take upto 3 mins+ to resolve sufficiently for me to try another bite and breathing is very hard during this time. However, this mostly happens only at the start of a meal and usually does not occur if bites are small and well chewed.

No major change in breathing yet.
