prilosec side effects?

Ive been taking prilosec for gerd.

maybe its just a conicidence but it seems to exacerbate my fibromyalgia symptoms{ body aches cramps ect. and i get hyper feelings.

i do have fibromyalgia and a mild case of bi polar but

i read that prilosec can lower magnesium levels and can cause the above mentioned symptoms.

my magnesium levels checked out ok but....

any one have this problem with prilosec or any other ppi's?

Maybe its coincidental.

I had all kinds of issues with Prilosec. Chest, back, shoulder and arm pain. The internist that I was seeing kept claiming that the medication could not possibly be causing those problems. At one point I think I even experienced hot flashes (I'm 26, so that's not normal for my age.) I finally made it to a GI doctor, who said that Prilosec absolutely could have caused those issues. He switched me to Dexilant and the side effects went away. You might want to ask your doctor about trying a different PPI.

Each PPI affects us differently, I have all kinds of different side effects from various PPI's. You have to shop around to try one that minimizes side effects. Not sure you can eliminate all of the them though as the drugs have a substantial impact on your digestive system. You are what you eat or should I say what your body can digest and acid reduction meds change the way that works.
