I am a 40 years old women who was diagnosed with erosive esophagitis last summer. I had some heartburn on some occasions earlier, but the diagnose came as a surprise for me. Since then I have also been diagnosed with gastritis, which the doctor gave me a cure of antibiotics for, since he suspected Heliobacter Pyroli to be the cause of it. I have been taking Nexium 40 mg for the last 6 months, but I still keep having a lot of symptoms despite the medication. I can't have read meat, I get trouble if I eat dairy, and some fruits and vegetables also cause heartburn.
The strangest symptom I have, is from my heart. Often when I sit down, bend over, run or pull up my feet, I can feel a rising sensation from my stomach and into my chest. It is followed by a strange heart rhythm. Most of the time, it feels like the heart skips a couple of beats. I can feel it with my finger on the neck. If my stomach is full, it can last for 2-3 minutes, and then it feels like the heart is struggling to find its beat. Some beats are fast, and some feels like skipped beats. It is always linked to this moving sensation in my chest. Sometimes I get really chilly afterwards.
This scares me a lot, and I get frightened that my heart rhythm will be destroyed permanently or that my heart will stop. It also has a big affect on my life, since it keeps me from moving like I want. My doctor keeps telling me that it's just extra systoles, but I can't stop worrying about it. I have had an EKG, and it came back normal. Of course nothing of this happened during the EKG. Have any of you experienced something like this, and has anything been done to treat it?
As I live in Europe, I am lucky enough to have access to a good public health system, so I guess I can ask to see a cardiologist if this continues.
