How do you do, sewfun
First, yes you may take both of them.
But no, not together.
They are both blocking acid and one thing will prevent the other work properly. So take eg. ppi in the morning and zantac in the evening.(two of my docs said so. It probably is true ;) )
Weaning off ppi is a great idea. Please do read the link i posted up there. The one right above and also the one way up there.
Today i am going to search for the data for the sudden increase of the gerd patients and ppi's invention(?) to see if these thing are related. ' cause i know what is gastritis and i know people who suffer gastritis but look around. There are suspiciously many people who are shffering gerd when it was just plain old gastritis before.
The paper i found(the up above link)clearly states that
PPI CAUSES THE DISEASE(gerd) IT IS GIVEN TO CURE.
I am going to start campaign on twitter, too. They respond to tweet faster than anything. We've got to stop this.
Take heart and wean it off. DO NOT UP THE DOSE. LONGER YOU TAKE IT HARDER AND LONGER IT BECOMES TO STOP THE BAD EFFECT.
You will suffer. Unfortunately there is no easy way once you have started. It might takes up to 8 weeks AFTER you completely wean it off that all the overactive acid spigots stop it's crazy thing.
In the mean time , you may take zantac up to 300mg at night.
Doubt everything. That's a start. Ask your doctor about
zantac and ppi and believe my words only when you have a evidence to believe. What you suspect and guess won't cure you. You should know the fact.
Gail,

On the same line, i have this distrustful feeling when something claims it's a panacea... I wish they say this is good for only this not that. That would be better. Anyway, it doesn't cause any extra discomofrt so i still take it only before lunch and dinner.
Viv,
Can i just go to sleep today and wake up 10 years later? ;)
Chris,
Now you are a cheerleader! How nice! Throw me in the air! Haha girls, let's make a pyramid!
I had no episode yesterday but i still don't feel i can stop zantac. I have this a sort of feelers always going on like 'may i stop? May i stop now?' You know. lol
Sadly answer today came back, still 'no' :(
Ok, one day at a time. It's been less than a week since i restarted my zantac regimen. Maybe next week. Take A Deep breath.
And at last but not the least.
Roah,
Good luck with you doctor visit today. I would hold your hands there. My hands are always warm :) do you feel it?
You will be back with good news. Just be patient with the doctor. They are often disappointing about
really listening. You know that.
Brand new day! Hip hip hoorah!
