Hello, this is my first post, first time on a forum.
I am experiencing my 4th very painful Gerd flare up. I am a 38 yo female and have had 2 endoscopes and was diagnosed with GERD 2 years ago in July.
I've never had heart burn symptoms, silent reflux I think it's called, any how I found out about my GERD because of my esophagus stricturing and sharp pains in my duodenum and stomach.
The first go was all about Prilosec and Zantac, I used these medicines for about a month, things improved, I went back to my ways and was just fine, for about another 6 months, and then...well another flare up, causing my esophagus to spasm. This time I changed my diet, eating very bland, small meals spread out. I lost about 30 lbs and I was able to consume about 1200 calories a day, I stopped caffeine and used herbal teas and apple cidar vinegar, a pro biotic and I got better, I was scoped again during this one. Well, once again, I think I am better but when stress kicks in , I start eating differently and the pro biotics and herbs are expensive. I am a server so I just cant afford my natural meds. I was okay for a while. Now I've had two flare ups within the past month, I guess we could just lump it into one long painful ride. My throat got burned this time, along with my fundus just agonizing me and my esophagus clamping down, it is complete pain. I'm tired, and hurting and sick of this disease.
Does anyone else get this in 'flare-ups' or is it a more constant thing?
How bad is your GERD, do you feel defeated like I do?
What works for you when it's this bad, is there anything that really works for the pain?
