Breathing problems after TIF

Just kind of curious, is there anyone on this forum that has had a breathing problem after receiving their TIF?
I had a hiatal hernia repair and the TIF done and as soon as I was able to walk around after the surgery I noticed that I couldn't breath as well. Thinking it's related to LPR/Gastroparesis, but I didn't have the same kind of problems pre TIF.

I can confirm with a restech exam that my reflux is indeed worse, but I was wondering if pulling down my stomach or getting my hernia repaired would affect the diaphram or in anyway contribute to making breathing harder. As a result of my breathing problems, I will seek some other form of surgery or Unsurgery. Looking at gettng my TIF taken down, a nissen, a roux en y and getting a cpap machine.

Sorry you are having a difficult time. I can't remember when you had the surgery, but the diaphragm can swell too after the hernia repair and might be some of your issues. I would definitely bring this up with your surgeon.

As for a nissen or the by pass surgery I would go for the nissen as it can be undone. Once the bypass is done I don't believe it can be reversed. If you also need to loose a lot of weight that is a different scenario.
Gave you had a sleep study done to confirm sleep apnea or hypopneas? I have had a few of these done and was on CPAP therapy until my 1st redo. I lost some weight and don't need it anymore. Besides mine was mostly hypopneas and central apnea.
Was your stomach herniated into your chest? I was wondering because you mentioned pulling your stomach down. If so this may cause some of your breathing issues. Alcie had her stomach mostly in her chest and she may be able to offer some help here.

Sorry to hear about your continued struggles, it must be very fustrating after having a surgery and not getting better. This could be why "some" dr's prefer not to do TIF or Linx on ppl with herina's. Hang in there!

Yes, I did have a very large hiatal hernia, it was in fact the largest one the doctors ever seen... and he's done over 400 tif's.
