Whacked in the Stomach almost two years after nissen

Ouch! I wouldnt imagine that would be good for it. I dont think a whack would tare it at all though, maybe if you stretched or pulled it to far. Its possible that your wrap could be slowly coming undone, its been 2 years and they arent meant to last forever.

Definitely need to start going easy on yourself. Our bodies just cant handle a normal person life style haha.. If it were up to me i'd drink beer and eat pizza all day... I dont think your doctor will be all that worried, ive heard of people who ran marathons with the nissen. give your doctor a call if you keep feeling bad... Possibly start up on your pre wrap routine... Diet, antacids, sleeping up right.

I've heard of people getting whacked in the wrap area right after the surgery and they were fine.

My wife playfully poked me there (not thinking) a few months after the surgery and I was totally fine.

I plan to continue to lift weights and have my life back. I'm not going to go back to being an invalid who does not do what he wants.

I am 34, almost 35, years old right now. When I'm in my 80's I hope to still be lifting weights. What are your thoughts about that -- as someone who had the nissen at 33, and with the possibility that a re-do would be in my future at some point (hopefully many, many, many years in the future), do you see weightlifting at 80 as a realistic goal?

I am 73 and had my HH and NF 6+ weeks ago. Prior to surgery I was either playing tennis every day or walking 3-5 miles a day at a mall in bad weather in order to be in the best possible shape for surgery. After surgery, I waited a few days and began walking a half mile at the mall. By the time of my two week follow-up with the doctor, I was up to 2 miles a day. At the 2 week follow-up I asked the doctor when I could resume playing tennis. I had planned to wait at least 6 weeks, if not 6 months. Because of my trouble free recovery up to that point he said, "whenever you feel strong enough"! I was very surprised. So I waited another week and then hit some balls with my friends. I continued hitting or walking every day since then and am now playing whole sets of tennis. I am not overdoing the tennis but I am able to hold my own without straining. This is not to say that it is possible for everybody because i did not have the debilitating GERD symptoms that many have. My problem was primarily hiatal hernia with constant silent reflux. The acid reflux.was controlled with Nexium. I am still on a soft food diet and will be until my next follow- up visit.

Your problem started only four days ago.  If you're anything like me, it'll take you a lot longer than that to get things healed and back to normal.  I'm sure your wrap is fine.  Try to relax and give things time to heal.  The Carafate suspension is a great idea.

about how long does it take? I'm noticing pangs of pain sometimes when I breathe in deeply and suddenly..... I think I'm not getting enough sleep or something and it's actually my spine. Also I lifted weights after a few weeks of not lifting weights, so I guess I'm still pretty sore (this was last Saturday - it's Thursday now). Also I'm not eating as easy of foods as I should be. So....that's probably it.

I feel a bit of pain at the wrap site. Normal? Nothing major, but it is noticeable. And I'm tired! But then again that could be from not sleeping enough.

Any thoughts?
