Hi bassysitch,It sounds as if you have something else going on there. Without insurance, I don't know how you handle the situation, but you need to see a good primary care physician and get some testing other than endoscopy, etc. I had he surgery four plus years ago, and while I lost 15 pounds during the recovery, I gained them back as soon as I was eating normally again. I'm wondering if you have some food sensitivities that you're not aware of.
What you describe does not sound like anything that is surgery-related. You can get some reflux after a Nissen...all they do is try to reduce the amount and bring you to a "normal" amount. Everybody gets some reflux sometimes. The high volumes that can damage the lungs and esophagus over time is taken care of by the surgery. There may be times when you eat less carefully when you have some reflux...it's normal. Especially if you have food sensitivities Some people need some much lower PPI dose after surgery. It's an individual thing.
I can't really help you, as your issues aren't typical ones, and really require medical attention. Have you checked with a nutritionist? That might be another step you could take. Eating baked goods to gain weight is probably not the best way to do it. You may have a sensitivity to some of the foods you're pushing, like the wheat or the milk products.
Please see someone. Could you qualify for a free clinic? You need to get some support to help you work through this, but I think it needs to be medical in nature.
Good luck!
Take care,
Denise
