Generic vs. name brand...there is a difference

ust thought I would share a success or partial success.
about 6 months ago I was suffering a lot, I read somewhere that named brands work better. Since my meds were not working. Major suffering and major amounts of anxiety. barrtetts is scary.
Anyway, I tried most all ppi's , even was taking 3 per day. Nothing was working. So, I called the pharmacy for my next refill and got the name brand of protonix. Major step but far from complete recory. But, I would try this if you haven't.
Also, what is iberagust?

Are you saying that the name brand Protonix has worked better than the generic to control your symptoms?

YES! There was a huge difference and I felt it pretty soon after I changed. This change got me over the hump. I had horrid pain in my throat. I was a wreck.
Also, chewing gum helps a lot!!!!!!!!!
Gaviscon chewables really help when I feel pain or eat later than expected and want to lay down. <granted I sleep inclined. 12 inches. Slip down all night. It sucks. But I slept horizontal once in the past 6 months. Last money night. We had a baby girl and hd got home from the hospital so I lid in bed with my wife and went to sleep. Awoke coughing and gasping for air. Throat was pinching really bad. It took 3 days for my broad to heal. I finally feel much much better today.
And of course my diet is limited. And I do BEST when I have 3 hours after I eat to lie down. 3 hours is hard. I get hungry and no weight to lose. I've lost all extra weight. All. Scared about that but maybe it's healthy. I remind myself I look like dr. Oz. not looks but body fat. So, if he is comfortable I guess I should be. Just need new clothes.

Forgot to mention my latest success ( but mentioned it in other posts)
And that is astepro nasal histamine.
There are so many little tweaks that I need to make. If it were not for Barrett's I'd be satisfied. But that has me on pins nd needles.
Sometimes I think the pain or sensation I feel in my throat is partially me thinking too much.
Example, if I think about my thumb long enough I will feel it. Is that happening to me with my throat? Don't get me wrong, it is burnt by reflux and that takes days. Even months as after my first major major attack to heal. But perhaps I stoke the fire too much? I don't know but it's the little things that need to be taken care of before I commit to the LInx

Thanks for the response-- I'm going through the same thing right now. I had a major attack in April (seemingly from a birth control pill change, but who knows), and I'm still trying to heal and wanting to give my body every chance to do so before I commit to Linx. So far I've done omeprazole and pantaprazole, and now I'm on Dexilant... not a huge difference yet, but I keep hoping. It's been almost three months now. Dexilant is name brand, and I'm going to give it until I finish a month's dosage, but maybe I'll try namebrand nexium or prilosec again in their OTC form and just up the dosage on my own to see what happens if Dexilant doesn't do it. Chewing gum IS amazing! It's pretty much my salvation these days. I'm going to get an endoscopy done soon to check up on my current condition (it's been four years since my last one), and I guess I'll go from there.
