Bravo Capsule Test for Linx... should I stay on my PPis?

Hi!

Has anyone done the Bravo Capsule to test the Ph/reflux for LINX candidacy? I'm wondering if I should stay on my PPis during the procedure to prove the pills are ineffective?

Hi GroverCat,

Nearly every GI doc requires people to stop PPIs for a week prior to the PH monitoring. I definitely understand your question, and very occasionally a GI doc asks a patient to stay on PPIs during the test, but the vast majority do not. Didn't you get directions with your appointment? Generally there are specific expectations for PH monitoring preparation.

Thanks, yeah, I'm still waiting on a call back this week to make the specific appointment date. I've been given a referral, but I haven't seen this particular doctor before (I'm flying to another city to do the test), and I haven't had a chance to talk with him about the LINX, and since he doesn't do that procedure himself... I just want to make sure from others that if I'm going through all the trouble to get the Bravo test, that I won't have to repeat it again if it turns out I do go for the surgery later this year.

Hopefully that makes sense!

The Doctor told me to stop taking PPI 3 days before. Good Luck keep us posted.
