Hi all. I am jumping over from the anxiety board because I have recently been diagnosed with acid reflux resulting from a barium swallow. Along with this, the pill got stuck in 4 areas. The doc said that I should have an endoscopy and and possible dilation.
So, this leads to my question....my anxiety and panic have most always been related to my swallowing and some chest pain. I've had this swallowing probablem for 19 years, I am now 38.
What does your swallowing problem feel like? Mine takes on a couple of forms. One is classic, where it's hard to get food down sometimes, globeus sensation with tight throat, but the worst one is where it's like I have forgotten how to swallow. Like its neurological and the nerves and muscle just quit in my mouth, with my tongue. It's scary!
My next question is....if you've had the same symptoms as I....did you have the dilation done? Did it fix it? I am terrified that the dilation is just for the food getting stuck and would actually cause further problems with my swallowing reflex, both voluntary and involuntary.
Any insight would be great!
