Ali,
Puree/mush from day 6 and for the next 6 weeks. My recovery has been a dream come true....maybe too good. Today is the start of my 10th day of recovery and sometimes I forget that I even had this surgery. I think following Denise's and Bill's advice had a lot to do with that. For the very first time yesterday, I sneezed twice. I expected extreme pain.....it was hardly noticeable.
My hospital discharge paperwork recommended that I include a lot of fiber in my diet. I was very hestitant with this advice because I thought it would put too much pressure on my wrap. So I am eating a moderate fiber diet and it has not been too bad. I just let my fiber cereal sit in milk until it becomes mush.
To be honest, I am scared to death of meats, chicken, raw vegatables, etc. I do not care if the meats and chicken are cooked so tender that they fall off the bone, I will still not eat them. I still have problems swallowing medication and the other night one of my pills got hung up in the wrap. It scared me and I spent the next 20 minutes sipping water to try and get the pill to dissolve. I do not want anything at all to hang up down there and do not mind eating puree/mush foods to about 2 months post surgery.
My diet consists of water, decaf tea, canned soup, ice cream, fiber cereal, canned fruit, and some canned vegatables. All of these items are super soft and can be chewed to liquidifcation.
I have to remind myself that yes I have been feeling really good but my tummy and wrap are still healing. What about you? Have you transitioned to lumpy foods?
