Hello again..! As I've mentioned in a previous post, I've been on Cimetidine for a good few months now. The only trouble is I'm only on 400-800mg of it a day, and when I take less it doesn't last all day. Every evening/morning, without fail I get burning in my throat, even if I don't eat or drink anything or eat healthy things. The other day I set off a furnace in my throat despite only eating vegetables and chicken! However in the daytime I am usually considerably better. I still get problems like throat clearing and burping, but I was forced to have a McDonalds on a train journey home a few days back (complete with a frappe drink) and I hardly felt any problems at all!
I know H2 blockers aren't as strong as PPIs, but when you've taken them for as long as I have (a good 2-3 months), can they still cause acid rebound? I know I've asked this before, but just in case, how long does Cimetidine typically have an effect for once it's taken? Could it be possible the reason my symptoms get worse in the evening is because rebound is causing them? It does always seem to happen at exactly the same time, unless I take my tablet a little earlier or later than usual. I'd like to wean off drugs altogether to show if anxiety is a cause for my problems or not - I'll use Gaviscon Advance and Saka's 8.2 pH water to help me do this - so any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.
EDIT: Until a few months ago I could eat anything with no symptoms at all. Also I never experience stomach symptoms like heartburn or indigestion pain, and my sore throat is easily treated with water, so could anxiety be causing my LPR symptoms?
