I don't know enough about those studies to make a conclusion, but it also states the following several times:
"Recent studies of proton pump inhibitors use by people who've already experienced severe cardiovascular events..."
So I assume the risk is a lot less if you don't suffer from a heart disease. I'm not gonna say PPIs are good, I'd rather not take them (or Domperidon for that matter, which can also cardiac problems), but what options are there? Taking no PPIs and develop cancer? Having a Nissen and potentially mess up your degistive system forever if the surgeon doesn't know what he's doing? Or maybe not improving at all in spite of having surgery (hello LPR!?)? Or needing one or several redos? Getting the Linx and never being able to have an MRI scan or not knowing whether it will erode or migrate over time? Live on rice, veg and steamed fish for the rest of your life, be underweight?
I guess it's always a question what is the lesser of two evils...
