Flying after Nissen

Hi Friends,
I am traveling to California from Ohio for Christmas and I was not sure if there are any concerns or precautions I should take flying after having my nissen done in August. Has anyone with an NF flown? Just was not sure if pressure changes would hurt me or make me gassy or whatever.

Hi SJ,

As you know I had mine in April, and I've flown 6 times since then (4 of those trips overseas). I didn't have any problems other than what to do about the gas problem after eating. Gaviscon will be your friend. smilewinkgrin

Where in CA are you going? I'm just about an hour south of San Francisco.

I am going to LA actually. Then I am going to Cardiff and laJolla where my family lives and then back to LA. I am dying to travel to SF one of these days.

I had really bad problems with my sinuses last time I flew... it was awful. I'd recommend bringing some tylenol or mucinex incase. I'm never flying again. my sinus problems are do to my reflux... when your having a bad day, it's amplified in the air.

No problem. I have flown several times after my nissens. Even in unpressurized military A/C with no problems. Just take the same precautions you normally would have to if you have sinus issues.
