Hi Dave,Welcome to Healing Well! There are several conditions that can be associated with GERD that can cause difficulty breathing.
Some people get reflux into their lungs, which causes asthma symptoms, and some when left untreated can develop some level of COPD.
Others get something called Vocal Chord Dysfunction, which makes it difficult to take in air, as the vocal chords don't stay open they way they're meant to when not in use.
Anxiety is another culprit, as GERD can be very anxiety producing, and anxiety can make one feel breathless.
The stomach symptoms you describe certainly sound like they could be GERD related. People with GERD don't always know they're having reflux. There's something called "silent reflux" that can be just as damaging as reflux that is more obvious.
Have you been to your PCP about this problem? If not, that would be a very good place to start. I wish you the best, and am glad you've joined the forum. I expect others will be by soon to answer your questions as well. Good luck in your search for answers!
Best wishes,
Denise
