Hi,

I know that we are supposed to avoid ibuprofen if we have gastritis, but can we take standard cold medicines (with decongestants)?  My sinus are acting up and I have a family wedding coming up very soon and so can't be sick (colds always trigger my asthma with a tickly cough...plus nasal congestion doesn't go away for me easily).  thx

Seems that taking capsules orctablets of anything is safer than the liquid for me.

You shouldn't have any problems with cold medicine. I used it quite often before I had my nissens and it didn't affect my GERD.

Something along with ibuprofen irritating your stomach I found out it also raises your blood pressure. Just wanted to throw that out there for anyone who is dealing with high BP.

You can use lemon, honey, and water to release the congestion. I usually drink mines warm and 3 times a day. 1 whole lemon juiced and a teaspoon of honey in 6-8oz of water. I add Cheyenne (1/2 tsp.) to mines because it is also a decongestion agent. Also you can make it in medicine form using 2tbsp of honey, 2 big slices of onions, 2 cloves of garlic. Pour the honey in a bowl, chop the unions and garlic up (small but not to small because you will have to take them out later) and add to the honey. Cover and let sit in the fridge for 24hrs. Remove and take out the onions and garlic. I have a medicine bottle I keep mines in. Take this 3 times a day until the congestion is gone. Hope this helps.
