Hi Maria,I don't think I welcomed you to The Wrapped Club!! Yay! You're 5 days post op, and each day the area affected by surgery is becoming increasingly more swollen. This swelling can feel like tightness, and you can have discomfort at the wrap site.
Swelling will continue to increase over at least the first two weeks, so don't be surprised if your swallowing gets worse before it gets better. You've just had MAJOR surgery. Laproscopic surgery is deceiving. If you had open surgery you wouldn't be as surprised with these sensations.
Since you just had little slits, and your outsides don't look like much was done, you might not realize that your insides have been through a LOT. I've heard it described as an egg beater in there...moving organs, holding them back, even detaching some so they can be moved. Your insides have been traumatized, so it's natural to have pain and discomfort long after your external incisions heal.
As you've heard over and over, this surgery takes six months for most of the healing and a year for the rest. It takes patience, perseverance, and trust to get through it. Hang in there!
Happy healing,
Denise
