I was wondering if some folks could give me feedback on how many inches they had to raise the head of their bed to get relief and any suggestions of CHEAP ways to do it? Thanks in advance everyone.

Kate56, I have slept with my bed elevated for 40 years. The best way I have found is to build up the bed slats. The slat at the head of the bed is made of three 2x4 wood studs screwed together and then cut to fit the width of the bed frame. This raises the head of the bed 4.5 inches. Then the second or middle slat is made from one 2x4 wood stud screwed to a regular bed slat for a thickness of about 2 inches. Then I used a regular bed slat on the foot of the bed. This raises the head of the bed about 4 inches without the whole bed frame being inclined.

This worked for 45 years. You can adjust the slats to make them thicker, use 4 slats or more depending upon your preference.

I used pieces of 2X6 boards I found at a building site...I keep my bed elevated about 7-8 inches. The boards go under the legs at the head of the bed.

Later, I bought bed raisers at Bed Bath and Beyond (not very expensive at all) and put them on top of a piece of 4X6 for stability on the rug. Works great.
The bed raisers have little indentations for the legs of the bed, which add to the stability as well.

Thank you for the advise. I ordered the risers from BB and B and they should be here on thursday. I ordered the one's for a 6 inch incline. I really hope this works, I am just so tired of the coughing, I threw out my back last week from a really bad spell so there are just a multitude of things wrong with me now. Also ordered a book "Fast Track Digestion" heard this was wonderful for GERD. Keep your fingers crossed for me please, getting tired of being sick and just can't stand the pill I have to take, they make me sicker than the GERD sad
