A question about my 24hrPh/Manometry test and the use of a sedative

As some of you know I had a 24hrPh & Manometry test done at the end of October and the results were normal for both, which really surprised me.

I didn't find the Manometry part difficult, just a little uncomfortable. But I found the 24hr probe really uncomfortable and was very aware of it and had palpitations all during the night. Anyway as sleep was elusive and in desperation at around 3am I took a sedative (a quarter of a sleeping pill).

Can anyone tell me if this could have possibly corrupted the test?

I stopped all PPIs 5 days before as advised and antacids like Gaviscon 24hrs before. I was told I could take anything else and to eat as normal once the probe was in.

Stephanie, thank you for that reassurance. I cannot see how it could make a difference either really, but thought that others may know a bit more about it and so I thought I'd throw the question out there.

I am thinking of getting the test re-done, but it will have to be done privately and comes with a hefty price tag! But I need answers as to what's causing my problems, I cannot go on feeling so ill forever. I am also thinking of asking for a referral to an ENT specialist.

Yes, it is. I had an endoscopy back in August which showed gastritis and a 2cm hernia. I also had an ultrasound scan to check my bile ducts and there was no problem there.
I haven't had a barium as yet.
