Hi everyone I am in the Anxiety Forum often but in my last trip to the ER they told me they think I have GERD. I get burning in my throat a ton of burping and so on. does anyone get difficulty breathing and chest and back tightness from this? Also do you ever get like a quick stabbing pain in your chest where your heart is? its pretty scary I had an EKG and chest Xray and everything was normal.

Welcome aboard.

Yes GERD can cause those symptoms. Many people who start to experience GERD think there is a heart issue going on. I've had the same pains you describe often before I had surgery.

If the reflux gets up to the lungs it can cause some very nasty breathing issues. We have several members who had the surgery because they had such bad lung issues from GERD.
