My daughter had to have a BRAVO capsule put in to check for GERD and other things two years ago and she is still having problems with wear the capsule was put in. She can still feel it and she has a gag reflex going on. It only flares up on occasion. Seems like the same time each year since. Just wondering if anyone else has had this experience.

Your daughter shouldn't have any symptoms from the capsule two years ago. She needs to see a gatroenterologist.

Bravo is pinned to the esophagus, but the tissue is supposed to weaken and the capsule drops off within two weeks. She should have had an X-ray as a follow-up to see if it had dislodged properly. Now she may need endoscopy to check for another problem.

YES!! I believe that Bravo capsule ruined my life. I had no problems before the capsule. But while it was attached the pain was unbearable and after 7 days my throat swelled up and i lost my voice. I have been in hell every since. That was 11 months ago. What problems is your daughter having other than the gagging?

She says it always feels like something is there in her chest just like after the procedure. It will be 2 years here in a few days. She got a very bad stomach virus last winter just about this time and when she got over it she started feeling like something was lodged in her chest just like when she had the procedure done the previous year. It did clear up and didn't feel anything till just a few days ago. She said it hurts and she can feel the capsule in her. All her tests came back clear, thank goodness but we are just puzzled about the hurting and why still 2 years later. I think she is going to make an appointment with her doctor that did the procedure.

Kimmie Sue, what about her throat? You said she has gagging. Does she have any other throat problems?

What tests did your daughter have that were 'clear'. There is a forum member that had a Bravo that didn't pass out of his system. They went back in by endoscopy and removed it. Please go back to the doctor-- they would probably do an x-Ray to verify if it is still in her.
