Aussie Diagnosed with Esophogeal Spasm prescribed Nizatidine - how will this help?

Hi Im from Australia and just diagnosed yesterday with Esphogeal Spasm. I have a constant pain in the solar plexus region which at times becomes an intense pain that spreads up my throat and makes it hard to swallow. This has been going on for 3 months. Had ultrasound and endoscopy - showed nothing. Been on maximum dose of PPI TWICE a day for a month and no change. So yesterday my new gastroenterologist told me he thinks it is Esphogeal SPasm and prescribed me Nizatidine marketed as Nizac in Australia. He told me it will help relax the muscles around the esphogus but from what Ive read about it on the net it is another acid blocker. I am now not confident that this is going to help me. I am posting here as this is the only place I have been able to find on the net with feedback from people who have this condition. Any feedback is much appreciated

Nizatidine is an H2 blocker. It is very similar to a PPI, but doesn't stop as much acid production.

PPIs suppress 90-99% of acid production.
H2 Blockers suppress 60-70% of acid production.

Not sure how an H2 blocker will relax your esophagus muscles, but if you have heartburn, as it sound like you do, it may help temporarily. Although if a PPI didn't help, this probably won't either. You need to get at the root cause of your pain, so further testing might be needed.
