Nizatidine is an H2 blocker. It is very similar to a PPI, but doesn't stop as much acid production.
PPIs suppress 90-99% of acid production.
H2 Blockers suppress 60-70% of acid production.
Not sure how an H2 blocker will relax your esophagus muscles, but if you have heartburn, as it sound like you do, it may help temporarily. Although if a PPI didn't help, this probably won't either. You need to get at the root cause of your pain, so further testing might be needed.
