I see my naturopath on Friday. Hopefully, he can help me. It wasn't just the one guy who started the thread that convinced me of anything. It was the results that many of the others had.

Can you tell me how this pH test is done please? I'm not thrilled with this gastro of mine. He's very nice, but I'm still waiting for the diet he's supposed to be mailing me. I have a feeling I won't see it. I also don't think this is Gerd....if it is, it's silent. I'm also worried about that area of my stomach...left side about 3+ inches below my rib cage that gives me these twinges. It was worse today. :(

I had the Restech ph probe done. They put a very thin tube into your nose and then the probe goes into the back of your throat. It really isn't TOO uncomfortable. However, I had some gagging issues while swallowing sometimes. Sometimes you can get on 'a roll' and swallow many many times without gagging.

I'd do it again.

Its uncomfortable, and for me quite painful because the manometry I had done beforehand (also a good test to have done) damaged my nostril a bit, so any time the pH probe moved it irritated the damage. The pH probe is smaller though.

Its absolutely worth having done though, especially if you are questioning whether your problems are acid related. Just talk to your gastrologist or ENT about the type of test you are after to make sure you get the results you need.
