I had my first surgery for gerd with having no medications worked. I went to my gastro who told me the test he had done on me were not good and I need to see a surgeon. Two weeks ago I had the procedure done known as a fundaplication. I have been sticking to the liquid diet given to me by the dietitian. I only stayed in the hospital the night I had surgery due a snow storm that would have kept me there all week, so they allowed me to go home. I would have liked to stayed the week so that I would have had some help with the diet, to make sure that when I did go home I would have been prepared what to do. There was so much confussion about
what I could have from the list the dietitian gave me and what the Dr. told me to do. I have medications that I have to crush because they won't go down right. All the liquids I am taking gives me diarrhea and my stomach constantly growls. I have no problem taking deep breathes, but it feels I stretch everything inside when I do. I have been doing the diet like I think is right. But drinking is worse than eating.I still am having pains in my chest and I guess this is because of the hiatal hernia. I have been reading horror stories about
this procedure and hoping that I don't have the problems some of you people have. Please keep me posted on your problems and I will be keeping in touch with you to see if I have these and what the best course of action will be.
