Hi everyone I am a new member but have read lots of informative posts about reflux related problems and the roads from diagnosis to treatment, I have had acid problems for years but the last 12 months have been the worst with what my doctor called volume reflux (vomiting acid in my sleep ), waking up to no voice or very hoarse, and persistent indigestion , the worst symptom at the moment is every mouthful of food I swallow hurts as it goes down and seems to take ages to get down , I think that the wall of the oesophagus have been burnt with the acid. I have had the 24 hour ph test and the manometer (not sure if right name but the pipe down the nose one) which to my disbelief showed slightly higher reflux levels and slightly weak les , anyway they are now giving me a endoscopy next wed which even though I am dreading ( I have had 2 before which were horrendous) in a way I am glad because surely this will find some reason for all this discomfort and pain, my surgeon did say if it proves the acid he will do a Nissan which I think is the only way forward I have tried the medication also stopped smoking (9 months today) dieted, even cut down my drinking all to no avail so roll on wed and I believe they give you a good idea there and then if they find anything I will post again when I know whats going on hopefully.
