Hi everyone,

I had endoscopy done recently and it came back all clear. I am not sure what it means, they told me no ulcers, no cancer. I wonder if it also means they had checked LES and its functions. Do you know if LES relaxation can be diagnosed by endoscopy? I am trying to identify causes of my acid reflux. Is it testing acid in the stomach helpful? I am in Canada and no one seem to know much about those tests performed in the past. I just feel that i am in total darkness as to what and why brought this reflux on. I feel finding the cause will determine strategies for cure. Right now i am at loss. It has only been 2.5 months, but not getting better. People tell me that if it was to resolved, it would have been by now. Not sure if it means i have it chronically? when it is determined?

No, you need a mannometry test to test the pressure if your swallowing and the les function ,

Hi kisser,

I didn't realise from your other post that you had h pylori. H pylori can cause acid reflux so I would finish your course of antibiotics and maybe take your ppi for another week after that and see how you feel before you request a mannometry test . All your symptoms are because of your h pylori.


I suggest eating a bland and careful diet for a few months as h pylori is a pretty vicious bacteria . Also make sure you use a new toothbrush and that other people in your family are in the clear as you can get it again transmitted orally .

Thanks, today is my last day on hPAC but the symptoms are there even with PPI so i wonder if it is caused by bacteria. I am sticking with the diet, so my Dr who prescribed 2 weeks of PPI. Good point about toothbrush. my husband got bugs too but not bothered at all, still will treat.
thanks again for the reply. If you do not mind me asking - do you exactly know what causes your GERD? i feel it might be a hard thing to put your finger on.

I have sent a link of a girl named amy king who had h pylori, she had it really bad and describes in detail the pain and suffering it caused her. Unfortunately this bacteria affects certain people and not others. It is an interesting blog.

As to my acid reflux, I think I have a weak les and maybe a sliding hiatal hernia, still under investigation but endoscopy showed spasms by the les so just waiting for my mannometry test date.

Saw my Family Dr today. He said i would need to see a GI one as my symptoms did not resolve with two weeks hPAC treatment. Should he re-test me?

Do you know if any of hiatal hernia and weak LES can be related to lifting? I have young twins whom i used to carry around. Since my sickness i lost 10 lb and now only 110p, so cannot lift much :-(

Good luck with your manometry test. I read a lot online, seems like the right thing to do. Let know how it goes.

Hi

I can understand your concerns and heavy lifting can cause a weakness in the diaphragm and constant gerd can also cause les problems . It's a vicious circle. I have sent you a link on breathing properly and engaging your diaphragm in order to strengthen it. It may help cure or improve your gerd . I have had gerd problems for 2 years now and since January have started these exercises to see if there is any improvement to my gerd. Well from being on 30 mg of lansoprazole and 300 mg of ranitidine, I currently don't take anything for about a 2 weeks now. I find by engaging my diaphragm properly and doing the exercises , I have had about 50 percent improvement to my symptoms. I know i breathe shallowly through my chest as sometimes I find myself not breathing out properly and suddenly my diaphragm engages and goes down. I study my son when he is asleep and see how his stomach goes out when he breathes in and when he breathes out his diaphragm muscles goes down but not in an in and out way.
