Hi there,
Just stumbled across this rescource after looking for some further information about post op NF diet.
I'm a 33 (when did that happen) lady living in the UK. I had a gastric band in 2006 and have lost a total of 9 stone in that time. A success I think.
I suffered with hideous heartburn whilst obese. All down to the crap I was pumping into my body, no doubt about it.
I started to experience night reflux about 3 years ago. Horrible as it was, I largely ignored it. I had my band loosened and started taking a PPI. Problem solved.
It started getting worse around 18 months ago. Upped my PPI and took shares out in Rennies, and largely ignored it. Around June of last year it started to effect my sleep. I would wake up covered in whatever I had eaten (I learnt that 5pm was my cut off time for eating) that evening. The frightening thing for me was that I wasn't waking up!
So fast forward to now.
I had an endo which revealed a hiatus hernia. I had the 24hr pH study. Acid levels and duration were off the scale and I have absolutely no reading on the motility test. (liquids and bolus).
I am due to go into have the NF next Wednesday. I have read a lot in the past few months and know that it will improve my quality of life.
Just wanted to know if there were any other folk out there that have had the NF after a weight loss surgery?
Another question, I can't find these reasoning anywhere, but why are we supposed to avoid caffeine?
I'm sure I will have other questions along the way too.
Thanks
