I had an Esophyx take-down and Toupet fundoplication done in June 2013. Some bloating has just been a part of life since the surgery and I had read enough expect it. However, in the last couple of weeks I am seeing a definite worsening of symptoms with really severe bloating. It gets so bad that you feel like you can't breathe (never mind the fact that you look 5 months pregnant!) and I get to where I don't want to eat or drink anything. For a while after the surgery I didn't have the feeling that air was trapped in my stomach but lately I feel like it is trapped there whenever I eat anything and I don't seem to be able to belch it up anymore (I had been able to belch since my surgery in June). Anti-gas medication doesn't seem to be doing anything and I haven't done anything different with my diet. Occasionally when I am getting ready to swallow liquid and have it in my mouth, I am able to belch. The only thing I can figure is that it must alter the valve in some way and allow the air to pass? I am getting a lot of nausea as the bloating worsens.... Anyone have this problem this far out from surgery? Any ideas? I would appreciate any thoughts or experience you can share.
