I hope everyone on the forum is doing well. I have not posted much since my Nissen in Aug 2013 but my symptoms along with other complications have returned. I have made 3 trips to ER since my operation along with visiting my doctor for an Endo. I received the typical ER treatment that my complications were reflux related, so I had my endo completed in Feb. The surgeon said that my 360 degree wrap is intact and that I have gastritis (spelling). I have had an upper CT scan but the results are normal. Additionally I have had every blood test known to medicine only to receive normal results. I am trying to get a barium swallow scheduled.
I have since changed doctors and am trying to get a better diagnosis. It seems like my body is producing excess stomach acid. My symptoms include throat constrictions, shortness of breath, hot flashes in face and head, overall weakness. I have had these major complications since Jan 2014.
I am not sure what options the docs can give me other than surgery. I am currently on two Nexiums a day supplemented with Gaviscon and Carafate. Nothing seems to work against the acid. I have been on the soft diet for a couple of weeks now but the acid is still there.
My question to the experts here is, what is your opinion regarding a vagotomy? I will be seeing my new doc in a couple of weeks and due to my complications I expect the topic to surface during our discussions. I have read several horror stories on other forums but like anything else, sometimes it works for some and not others.
Thanks in advance for taking the time to read and comment regarding my problem.
