Where ae you located? I too had doctor's that didn't listen to me either (read my post that I just posted prior to this, title Newbe Chronic Cough)
I found an amazing doctor, if you are in the NY area, although when I am in her office, I hear the receptionist making appointments for people, from as far away as Texas.

Like you, I have LPR (diagnosed by Restech test and the usual other tests). At my worst, I had many of the same symptoms as you mention above, although not all of them. I tried to find out by looking at your posts, but could only go back 10 posts. Here's my question. What diets have you tried? The reason I ask is I've had some success with a few of them. I've been on Jaime Koufman's Dropping Acid, Norm Robilliard Fast Tract, Body Ecology, and now the Whole 30 diet. I'm on Day 16 of the Whole 30 diet and my throat no longer burns. That never happened with the other diets. I'm also sleeping quite well. I still have the mucus but I expect that could be the last to go away. I'm cautiously hopeful. I wasn't going to mention it until I'd been on it longer (it's a 30-day plan so I'm only half-way into it), but I'm feeling so much better and you are obviously suffering. Here's the book: It Starts with Food by Dallas and Melissa Hartwig. Here's a website that explains it further: http://www.whole30.com/ It isn't written specifically for GERD/LPR. It's base is Paleo. I've taken what I learned in other books (listed above) and tweaked it a bit. I don't use trigger foods and modify some of the recipes so they'll work for someone with LPR. I couldn't be more surprised that it is working for me. I really didn't expect it to. It remains to be seen if it continues to help, but other than giving up sugar, dairy and grains it's the most positive thing that's happened in 3 years. There is a support network built into the plan which I really like. And you can document your progress as you go. The first few days were difficult for me. I had nausea and headaches for a few days and digestive issues. That has since gone away. But gradually, I noticed my throat started improving. I'm taking 2 enzymes with each of 3 meals a day. I think that has helped too. Nothing else. Just food and enzymes.

It sounds like you've tried diets before, but I thought I'd mention it since you are suffering so much. Even if it just decreased your suffering until you can have the surgery...

I'm not able to tolerate PPIs either. I've tried 4 of them. None of them helped. And I'm not ready to try the surgery. I fear it won't work and then what? It doesn't seem to always work for people with LPR. My doctor wanted me to see a surgeon to start a dialogue but I decided to try Fast Tract first. It helped. Reading the book was an eye opener. But after two months counting fermentation potential, not a whole lot of change. My next stop was to contact Norm Robillard for a consult. That's still a possibility if I don't continue to make progress on the Whole 30. Then someone on this forum mentioned Whole 30. I had never heard of it so looked into it and decided to give it a try. So that's the short version of my story.

I really hope you find something that helps you Daxter. Even if it's just to get you through until you can schedule the surgery.

Its strange that the gavicson makes you worse. Does it make your stomach worse too or just the throat?
