I had a nissen six months ago and have had next to no reflux since. However, recently I have noticed this pressure feeling, as if something is pushing upward at the top of my stomach. Most of the time I don't burp and a few seconds later the feeling passes. Sometimes I will let out a little burp, but nothing typically comes up with it. Is this normal?

I am really stressed at work right now (year end review time) and am trying not to get on the crazy paranoia train over this. Hoping nothing is wrong....

Hey! I just posted something similar before seeing this! I'm about six weeks out and THINK I might be having the same thing.

It's like this weird pressure that starts low and then moves up. Sometimes I can swallow and it goes away, other times it's kind of like a burp that ISN'T quite the same as it used to be.

We're in the same boat, KitKat. Work stress, 'crazy' paranoia... I don't think pressure should be of a huge concern. I still get it and I'm told my wrap is good... it's a little tight maybe, but it's good. Six months is a minute, but for some, it's still pretty early in the healing process.

I open my mouth and involuntary burps come out sometimes. I think it's kind of funny and usually just dismiss it.

You can always give your surgeon or GI doc a call and see what they think if it's alarming you that much.

I am 4 months post op and I am having the same problem as all of you. I have no burps at all, except for the miniature ones in the middle of these spasms that don't really release any air. It feels like these are caused by the body wanting to burp but then realizing that it can't and causing a small spasm. I am a little different than most of you probably are in that I am chronically constipated, and so my gas has no way to easily escape upward or downward. I also know that I swallow a lot of air both throughout the day while taking large breaths and in large amounts when I play my trombone. I have had these small spasms since my surgery, and lately I have noticed that they have been around 10 times per hour.

Because of your topic ( cricopharyngeal spasm ) is locked, I'm writing to you here...

How it's going with your spasms in your throat? As you said,,,,did you cross the bridge with botox injection in your throat / crico muscle or countinue now your treatment on neurotin 900 mg for your crico ?


I was diagnosed with Glossopharyngeal Neuralgia two weeks ago...A neurologist from a University has taken me on Rivotril 2 mg a day for my terrible spasms and pain..He found a nerve adhering to the a vessel in the MR althougt this nerve usually is found very rarely in the MR ..He also mentioned if my pain increases ,I definitely need to have surgery from my brain...


As you see, he said that this disease is not related to Gerd or LPR althougt I have been suffering from these diseases from several years...

This issue seems very scary and terrible now...I don't now how I have to behave now..I'm trying to hold on to the my terrible pain and spasms with rivotril..
