You'd have to be mental to send someone home straight after the procedure, or even the next day to be honest.
Yeah, my surgery was on a friday and an idiot NHS trainee surgeon thought I could get up and go. Then the next day, the temporary weekend staff - the leader of which was a very strange man, just plain strange - couldn't get it into their heads I needed more time as the surgeon had said I should have gone the day before. I even had to demand to see a doctor first as they wanted me to just get up and leave.
Classic conversation:
Strange nurse man: "you have to go"
Me: "I want to see a doctor"
Strange nurse man: "there are no doctors"
Me: "we're in a hospital, it's full of them"
I went home as I figured I might as well be miserable there than in a ward and I truly thought I was going to die I felt so bad. I woke up the next day and was surprised to be alive :) Honestly, I woke up and thought "wow"
