A stitch is sticking out! Is this ok?

Now that all the steristrips are off and the scabs are falling off, I have noticed I have the end of a suture sticking out of my skin by my belly button. I had a full incision from breastbone to navel and four smaller horizontal incisions. I seemy surgeon in another week. Will this keep until then? Do I need to worry?

It is nothing to worry about if its not bugging you or if it is infected (swollen, red, pus, etc). You can snip it off with some scissors if you wish, or wait for your doc to do the same thing. They are dissolvable stitches and occasionally poke through. Best wishes.

Hi, I had a few of these. I'm sure a few "popped out" some time after the operation too.

They're absolutely nothing to worry about. I made a mental note to ask my doctor or surgeon, then I forgot about them, then several weeks later I realised they had fallen off or disappeared.
