Hi all

Its been a fair while since i posted on here. i had fundoplication in december 2013. the last few weeks i have been getting a reflux type sensation in my chest again, although it does not feel like full blown heartburn like i used to get. just wondering if my wrap has failed or if this is just maybe some kinf of irritation at the site of the wrap?

anyone else experienced this? I'm a bit worried my op hasn't worked

Hi Gloopstar,

Even at six months post-op you have some continued healing and adjusting to do. It is easy to irritate the wrap site, and when that happens, reflux is mimicked. This can be caused by eating lots of raw veggies or salad, or spices, alcohol, acidic foods...you name it. Also, if you've got a tight wrap, you can get some food sitting at the wrap site that can irritate and feel just like reflux.

During the first couple years I'd get my wrap irritated quite often, but as time has gone on, it has become much more rare. It just takes time for your upper GI tract to adjust to the changes that have been made.

I wouldn't worry a bit. Just baby your wrap for a while, and things will feel better in time.
