I've had an interesting development after my first Gastroenterologist visit last week. I wasn't having much luck with Nexium, and last month May 6 I switched to Pantoprazole. I am actually taking 2 x 40 mg per day.
For the first 28 days it wasn't really working that well, taking the acid from an extremely unpleasant 10 to maybe 7 or 8. However, in the past 5 days, my acid has definitely changed for the better.
Almost everything I've read suggests that these drugs work after xx days and not after 4 weeks. Did anyone have a similar experience?
The only downside is that my stomach is suddenly upset a lot. For now, I'll take that over the acid, no questions asked.
The other thing I was wondering about is - could this have anything to do with the fact that I had a colonoscopy at the same time as the gastroscopy and of course had to completely clean my colon out for that?
