My story and my theory

First post and frankly, I should have posted before. I believe I have gastritis due to infection. Here is my story - please give me your thoughts.

I am a 31 year old male who recently proposed to the love of my life in February. Earlier that month I started having minimal random nausea (unrelated to proposal haha). I went to the doctor and he prescribed me 40mg of Protonix once a day. I had no heartburn at this point.

While taking Protonix, I started noticing big chunks of avocado in my stool. I also had 2-3 anxiety attacks, headaches, and other side effects.

After 2 weeks we stopped with this med. before we realized it was anxiety, i had an EKG and cardia stress test, which were perfect. This is when I developed acid reflux and heartburn. I started eating a very clean, very paleo diet but felt like i was full very quickly.

I started taking digestive enzymes and probiotics. This helped for a week or two. In fact, my heartburn has been gone for a month now.

I get offered a big job with a big pay raise. I take the job.

Around 2-3 weeks ago, my stomach would burn in between meals. Would feel better when I ate. This is still happening.

I got a new great doctor, and she has me scheduled for an endoscopy on Tuesday, July 1. I am taking Nexium 20mg.

I now have massive fatigue, lightheadedness, and other anemic symptoms. Doc drew blood on Tuesday and we are awaiting the results.

My fiancé has been a trooper with my anxiety and fears. We are excited about our wedding. I am fearful my stomach won't be the same.

Here is my theory. Please give me your feedback.

I don't know the original cause of the nausea, but I have a feeling i potentially got infected with h pylori. This would explain the symptoms of gastritis/ulcer? and that could lead to either iron or b12 anemia.

Thoughts?

I know we see a lot of the horror stories on here, but is anybody out there who has gastritis and got healed easily?

Also, minimal gerd over the last month.

Have you taken anything but Protonix beforehand? Here's a trick I learned, maybe even two during two of the worse GERD episodes I've had in last 4 years. It's trial and error really, I ask my doc to split my dose of PPI, instead of 40mg in the morning, I took 20mg twice a day, morning and night on empty stomach. If that didn't work I tried to drink a little water and a mashed banana which for me stops the burn and then take the PPI. Some can on empty stomach some can't. You should deff get anything else ruled out but if the end game is PPI's try another, and another after that. They might all be the same but the molecules aren't and no two people respond to the same meds. As for nausea I got this so often, telltale of GERD coming back and I have it still with this new PPI I'm on, because my food isn't being digested in my stomach as it should, for one because of my anxiety and two because well we don't eat much with a burnt out esophagus. One small step at a time...relaxation and patience where my key words ;) Hang in there ! hope you feel better soon.

Sorry to hear that, hopefully your procedure would go smoothly on the 7th. I did endoscopy few days ago and the sedative knocked me out but i woke up halfway through the procedure and it was a nightmare, i could not stop gagging. The knocked me back out again. My previous endoscopy went smoothly though.

just try and relax, its the simplest of procedures. A
colonoscopy would be my nightmare.
